Thanks the replies were overwhelming.
The history lessons a real mind opener.
In case any body missed it i dont know Hindi.
But thanks for all the replies
Few things bothered me thou
1)40 of the worlds billionaires are Indian,yet poverty is so
wide spread.
2)Religious and gender intolerence makes international news
almost daily
3)Just about all the new money maker's,including those who were
mentioned as running top U.S. companies would have been
marginalised or would probably never have been able to achieve
that same success if they stayed in India.
4)Corruption is rife
5)Oppresion of people due to there religion or cast seems to
be an in-escapable reality.
Please dont get me wrong,I have a habit of being a going against the grain,the thing is,I want the whole picture,not a biased one sided view.
Niether do i mean to force the issue,but after having some rather nasty comments made to me on Yo-India,including receiving a derogatry P.M. regarding my religion it really got me thinking.

If India is so great why are so many of its citizens spread out in all parts of the world.

Regarding this whole cast issue,it seems that it was so deeply entrenched in Indian culture,that when my great grand parents,and very many of the other Indians who came over to South Africa,changed there surnames,just to escape the stigma that there family name carried and shake of any association with the class classification in India.
I dont wish to offend any one but I love i good debate.

NGS ji, yah ek kudrati baat hai ki achai aor burai dono her jagah milegi apko. India bhi issi tarah se hai..

1. Greebi kaha nahi hai.. AMERICA jise sansaar ka her insaan bahoot amir country samjhata hai .. yaha bhi log bhukh se marte hai.. yaha bhi log beg karte najar atte hai.. yah kah sakti hu ki yaha usa ke rules India se jayada achi tarah se maane jaate hai jiski wajah se jo greebo ki sahulate hai wo un tak pahunch jaati hai!!

2. SRK ki wife Pandit family se hai.. aise hazaro examples hai jahan intercast shadia bahoot success hui hai aor aise bhi examples hai jahan ek hi dharm ke hote hue bhi.. ladke aor ladki ko mout ke ghat utaar dala kyun ki wo ek hi village se the. Depend karta hai ki app kaise in dono ko dekhna chahte hai!!

3. world ka sabse amir insaan.. India mai hi rahta hai aor wo India mai rah kar hi world ka sabse amir insaan bana hai!!

4. Rishwat kaha nahi li jaati.. world ka kon sa country hai jaha yah nahi chalta.. jahan chup kar hota hai wo nahi hota aor jahan khuleaam waha hota hai.. itna hi fark hai bas!!

5. India is great, magar her insaan ki apni jarurat hoti hai aor insaan by nature sawarthi hai.. jahan use thik lagta hai wo chal padta hai aor baki family us insaan ki wajah se apna desh chor kar jaati hai. Lekin yah bhi sochne ki baat hai ki baher ke kitne desho ke log India mai jakar bas rahe hai..

maine apke sabhi points ka jawab dene ki koshish ki hai... jaise maine kai baar Yo per likha hai... Life adha bhara hua aor adha khali gilas hai.. apki najar per hai app khali dekhna chahte hai ya bhara hua!!

Dunia ki har kone mai apko same mahol milega.. same baatein milegi.. same insaan milege... it depends ki app apni life mai kaise logo se milte hai aor apki najar kaya dekhati hai.. wo hi Exp. ban jaata hai!!!

Well, you might not know the ratio of poverty, if US measures the income in dollars, here it must not be measured equivalent to UN system, that's wrong. Then you will have exact numbers according to the Indian per capita sensus.

You are talking about 20 years back, now things are much better and people are known, yet only in remote areas and villages some examples of gender intolerence appear.
Media is also involved in flaming religious issues, government should take some solid actions to keep them from making such outbreaks. Mentally, there is no such extremism, but compared to past this thing is majorly decreasing and changing even extremism thinking.
3)Just about all the new money maker's,including those who were
mentioned as running top U.S. companies would have been
marginalised or would probably never have been able to achieve
that same success if they stayed in India.?
India's trade policies are unmatched, even comparable to US economic policies which give full hand to multinationals, though, multinationals are in control and big part of the profit goes to Indian investers and Indian government.
I would say that few individuals might pertain to above view.
4)Corruption is rife?
Well, It is but still there is a strong scrutiny criteria prevails, somewhat and somehow corruption could be decreased.
Even senators, generals and governers in USA are corrupt.
5)Oppresion of people due to there religion or cast seems?
A little bit, I already have stated above.
When persons from diffrent religions can marry each other, caste is just way beyond that. okay.

I love national pride,its amazing but this is exactly what i wanted to read,the fact that no one agreed and all of ypur'll rallied to the defence of your country,it show that the future of India is in good,no great hands,your'll take pride from the past,are involved in the present,and have hope in the future,bravo to you all,syednaami,good come back,although religious riots made headlines about two years ago,but I can see what you saying by the media and I'm politicions flaming such incidences.
I did check out India's census,interesting read,although,i failed to find income per person,or the amount of people that live under what the UN defines as
the poverty line.
Pooja you have to bad i had no idea about what you said,but judging by your earlier replies I'm sure tehy are filled with evidence of your vast knowledge,and beaming with national pride.

That’s what we are taking about -:

If Management fails than of course company fails.
That applies to the countries as well.

You have given one example and I can give you 1000 examples where intercast thing Rules in India. Please don’t give any celebrities example.

The difference here is the level of corruption not the type (open or confidential) of corruption.

Per capita income of India will rise to $800/anum, now it is considered $750 and a little below.
Till 2005 it was $285

UN Definition of:
poverty line [code 440]
An income level that is considered minimumly sufficient to sustain a family in terms of food, housing, clothing, medical needs, and so on.
Referring to above definition
about 5% sleeps a night without eating but even they feed their families somehow. looks not a bad condition people are talking about. talking about below poverty line.
Housing, here the percentage of people rises from above figures twice I guess.
Clothing, not discussing it, you barely see naked people around, perhaps in very slump areas... Bollywood is racing with that percentage of living with few or no clothes.
Medical, you sure have observed a queue of patients outside OPD, but this is one big area where progress and development is utterly required.
