महज़ एक ख्वाब हो या हकीकत हो जो भी हो,
इतना तो तय है कि तुम वला की खूबसूरती रखते हो.

हमें नज़रों से समझाने की कोशिश न कर ऐ हमदम,
लबों से भी कह दीजिये कि तुम मुझसे रिफ़ाक़त रखते हो.

उम्र के कितने नाज़ुक मोड़ से तुम गुजर रहे हो,
कि अपने दिल कि धड़कन तक  महसूस करते हो.

मुझको अच्छा और रक़ीब को बुरा समझते हो,
कमसिन होते हुए भी अच्छे बुरे की पहचान तो रखते हो.

तुम्हारी चाहत की शिद्दत को किस तरह दाद दूँ "बेताब",
मैं दो क़दम पीछे हटता हूँ तुम चार क़दम आगे बढ़ते हो.
