Her lungs wither, a fading maple leaf, ready to collapse,
Breathing shallow, unaware of the lavender evening.
Her sun has kissed her good night to sleep,
And the moon has risen from the undersea world to hug her good bye.

Each of her breath, weaker than the previous one,
Alveoli, suffocated and weakened.
Pulmonary arteries and veins, shunted,
No blood flow to supply the air needed to rescue her.

She awaits to feel the sweeping winds.
