Aap aatey bhi naheen, ham ko bulaatey bhi naheen!
Gungunaatey bhi naheen! Baam pai chhaatey bhi naheen!!

Kuchh to batlaaou, ki, kyaa ham sey huyee gustaakhee?
Muskuraatey bhi naheen! Bazm mein gaatey bhi naheen!!

Roo-b-roo paa key hamain, khairmaqdamee key liye,
Apney ahbaab ko, jaldee sey bulaatey bhi naheen!

Surkh, shabnam key chhuye, khil uthhtey gulaaboun-sey,
Mahmahaatey bhi naheen, haath hilaatey bhi naheen!

Guzar rahey hain zamaaney, duaa-salaam naheen!
Nigah uthhaatey naheen, wajh bataatey bhi naheen!!

Door sey hee, nazar, nazar mein samaan jaatee thee;
Aaj, ham kyaa kaheyn, woh aankh milaatey bhi naheen?

‘Abd’, woh chup hain, to, khaamosh hai duniyaa saaree!
Chashm pur-aab hain: woh ham ko sataatey bhi naheen!!
