Dil kaa khush aabroo konaa bhi, 'abd', baqqee hai!
Husn kaa roohroo sonaa bhi, 'abd', baqqee hai!!

Jigar mein, Dil mein hai harkat ajeeb-see; leykin,
Dour-e-aatish shuroo honaa bhi, 'abd', baaqee hai!   

Tasawwuraat mein Majnoo ko milee hai Lailaa;
Ishq kaa surkhuroo honaa bhi, 'abd', baaqee hai!

Unkey koochey mein ham naye hain, haqeeqat hai yeh;
Aur, beyaabroo honaa bhi, 'abd', baaqee hai!
   
Gazab to dhhaayengey us din, mileyngey ham jis din;
Abhee to roo-b-roo honaa bhi, 'abd', baaqee hai!
