baat kuch  bhee  naa  thee  fir  bhee  shikwe  hazaar huye,
be-gairat sanam  kee saazish se dil  ke  tokde hazaar huye,

pal main chakna choor kar gaye   dil ke aashyane main base,
sabhi armaan mere  aansuo,n main  bah  kar  taar-taar huye,

dar ba dar thokare  kahte gaye  jiss  dilbar  ke didaar ko,
hum uss  sangdil kee ek jhalak ko sada  hee  talbgaar huye,

bich raah main chore gaye woh shikwe unse  kar naa paye jo,
mohhobat ke  silsile main  be-waffa  lafz ke hukkdaar huye,

mohhobat karne kaa mere dil  ko  kiya khub inaam milla hai,
iss zalim zamaane kee nazaro,n main ishq ke gunahgaar huye,

woh sath nahi jiski umeed ki thi sari umar sath nibhane ki,
ab ye chand taare hi meri tanha e raat main waffadaar huye,

ek ek pal jo humne milkar  sanjhoye they sunehri yaado,n ke,
woh sare bite huye   lamhe hijr ki lou main dhoonadaar huye,
