यही है इल्म मिरा यही हुनर भी है
नहीं फसील-ए-अना यही गुज़र भी है

बसी है कहाँ इंसानियत जानूं हूँ
यहाँ चेहरों पे मेरी नज़र भी है

गली के शज़र की छांव में घर भी है
यही है गांव मेरा यही शहर भी है

कहे मुझसे मिरी बदनसीबी कुछ भी
खुदा ने जो दिया उसकी क़दर भी है

लहू से तराश ती हूँ उम्मीद फिर भी
परिंदों की तरह मेरा सफ़र भी है

खुदा हर शै में है सुना है किसी से
मिरी मानो दैरो-हरम इधर भी है

कभी सोचा नहीं 'सरु' ने कि दुनियां में
खुले में ऐसा मक़ाम-ए-बशर भी है
