This question is asked on behalf my neighbor’s mother.
“Oh can you leave this newspaper and listen to me? Chandrakant today turned to be 24, do you listen to me?” asked meena to her husband with some worries and anger in her voice. “So what, everyone grows up and every year we add 1 year to our age” calmly replied her husband. “I am telling you to find a bride for him” replied meena-snatching newspaper. Husband: “Oh you don’t have to worry about that I know a girl.” Wife: “Really who is she?” Husband: “She is komal, my school friend’s daughter.”
That weekend Chandrakant and komal met each other. Chandrakant was attracted towards the beautiful komal and decided to marry her just looking her. They were not allowed to talk to each other just they saw each other and their marriage were fixed.
After a month both the husband and wife were busy in the marriage preparations of their son. And the day came when Chandrakant and komal became couple. Chandrakant was LLB and was earning good amount through private practice. Komal was not even 10th pass. Chandrakant was shocked to know this and many facts on the first day of his marriage. Before Komal was the most beautiful girl to him but now she was no more beautiful. His heart, which was filled with love for Komal, is not filled with hatred. He was not able to tell his feelings to his mother. But his behavior with Komal told everything. A year passed in this situation. Komal was going to give birth to a child but there was no change in Chandrakant’s behavior. Day by day the quarrel among them became worst and one day Chandrakant pushed Komal out of his house.
Komal went to her father’s house and told every thing. Her father decided to fight against this injustice and sued Chandrakant. At last both got divorce. Chandrakant said that her wife is illiterate, she don’t English, she dresses like an old fashioned Indian woman. He feels shame to take her to parties. She is like a villager. He cannot live with her.
I have seen that a woman always helps her husband to come out of any such problems. But then why can’t a man? Inspite of taking divorce and quarreling with Komal, Chandrakant could have helped her learn the things, which she did not know.
He could have taught her English. He would have requested her with love to wear dresses of his wish, I think she would have readily accepted that dresses. After all marriage is what you learn something from each other and help each other to grow. But mostly men behave like Chandrakant and spoil their lives.

That may be right that some men behave like this .... and spoil two lives !!! But what about those parents who do not care to give proper education to their daughters....and then marry them off at the first possible chance !!!! and why should a girl be so submissive...!!!
In society every one has equal responsibilities... and no one alone can be blamed...!!!

Hi Anamika Ji,

It is not like ....Men are like this, women are like that, boys are ...or girls are like...
But this things found every where, mostly in those who are looking for some status in society, both men n women...
so kindly don't count this against only men.....

Also, Women Welfare Org. always argue for this topic, know let me know...

"Kya kewal sasur(father-in-law) bahuu pe attyachar karta hai...""kya kewal baap beete pe attyachar karta hai..."

Aise bahut se example hoo sakte hai...
hope u can...

This incidence took place many years back. When a woman was taught only household work and no other work. She was made to live in her house and was not allowed to study.

if he left her becuase she doesn't know english and she didn't wear dresses then he didn't love her. And what is this that he can teach her these things!!!! Is that why you marry someone so that you can change them to fit your ideals. If this is all that he was looking for in a wife then the marriage was destined to be over. Not knowing English and not wearing the kind of dresses he liked was just an excuse these qualities reflect someones outside not their inside. what about her thoughts, her wisodm,(not knowing english doesn't make you stupid) her love, her innconcence, were these qulities not importamt to him? And maybe there were qulities in him that she didn't like no one is perfect until you fall in love with them.
