Understanding Pleasure

This is what I have understood from my Guru about happiness:

Life is not a bed of roses for everyone. When you have got big things to take care of mind does not go towards little things. Little things, like a cup of tea in the morning, are meant to be used at the right time and at the right place. They are not meant for giving pleasure.

Finding pleasure in little things is a recipe for disaster. Pleasure is not present in little things because if it would have been then the same thing should give the same result to everyone which is not the case. Same thing can be source of joy for someone and sorrow for someone else.
And suppose, some little thing from your childhood has become a source of happiness for you, and then one day it gets lost or damaged, then that loss or damage will become a soruce of sorrow for you.

It is important to understand the working of happiness before we start our quest for it and for that regular Satsang [company of the holy] is a must.

Do not establish proprietorship over worldly things. They are not yours. They have been given to you for utilisation so that you could reach the source of eternal bliss...

According to its Sanskars, when our mind gets an impression of pleasure from something it wants that source of pleasure again and again, thereby getting attached to that thing slowly but surely.......

With attachment comes dependence and with dependence comes misery.......
