यूँ भीख में लेना भी मंज़ूर न था
मुहब्बत में इतना भी मजबूर न था

ये ज़िंदगी मेरी रोशन थी उससे
अगरचे वो चमकता कोहिनूर न था

आबादियों ने क्या दी पहचान ए दिल
बर्बादियों से पहले मशहूर न था

है कौन सी सूरत महबूब तिरी ये
मेरा सनम तो इतना मगरूर न था

इश्क़ बिन भी जितनी ज़िंदगी गुज़री
था ज़ायक़ा उसमें पर भरपूर न था

परवाह थी बिजली और तूफ़ान की
बरसात में जीने का शऊर न था

जितना समझते थे आप मुझे हरदम
मगर इतना भी तुमसे मैं दूर न था

हसरत भरा ये दिल खाली कर डाला
इस तर ह मैं हल्का कभी हुज़ूर न था
