कश्चित कांताविरहगुरुणा स्वाधिकारात् प्रमत्तः
शापेनास्तंगमितमहिमा वर्षभोग्येण भर्तुः !
यक्षश्चक्रे जनकतनया स्नानपुण्योदकेषु
स्निग्धच्छाया तरुषु वसितिं रामगिर्याश्रमेषु !!01!!

A Youthful Yaksha, Who Diverged From His Duties:
Those Stood Due Every Morning To His Master
Kuber, The God Of Wealth, And King Of Yakshas;
As His Newly-Wed Wife Retained Him Back,
Into Her Lovely Youthful Embrace, Twined
In Bed, Long-After The Day-Break; Got Deprived
Of His Superhuman Power That He Enjoyed
Being An Yaksha, Through Which He Could Hide
His Presence, At His Sweet Will: Thus Maintained,
His Status, Much-Much Higher Than The Humans;
Was Further Cursed By The Master And Exiled
From Kingdom, To Dwell Far From His Sweet-Heart,
For A Year-Long Period Of Painful Separation;
Moved Out To Places, In Search Of An Abode,
And Settled Among The Hermitages Of Yore,
On Mountain Ramgiri Full Of Lovely Shadows
Caused By Large Trees And Thickets; And Those Ponds,
That Stood Turned Sacred By Sita’s Ablutions.

युवक अनुचर कुबेर का एक, छलकता देख विपुल अनुराग,
नवौढ़ा का मधुमय परिरम्भ, किसी दिन प्रातः, सका न त्याग;
हुआ, फलतः कार्य में बिलम्ब, कुपित हो दे स्वामी ने शाप,
अगोचर रह पाने की यक्ष-सिद्धि ली छीन, किया अप्रताप;
और, इसके ही साथ महान दुःख़ दे, प्राण-प्रिया का संग,
राज्य से निर्वासित कर, एक वर्ष के लिए, कर दिया भंग!
अतः यक्ष ने विकल हो, गेह त्यागकर किया विवश प्रस्थान;
रामगिरि पर रुक, प्रवास-योग्य खोजता फिरा अनेकों स्थान;
वहींपर ,जनक-सुता के स्नान-पूत जल-कुंडों से छविमान,
सघन छायावृत विटप-निकुंज बना उसका अधिवास निदान!!

Bahut bahut shukriya janab... janaab aapse guzarish hai ki agar aapke paas meghdutam hindi translated e book ya koi link for ebook ho to zarur batayen... shukriya Clapping Smiley

Bahut bahut shukriya, Sanchit ji! I had translated the 'Meghdootam'in Hindi in 1979-'80, but only the first-part of it, known as 'Poorva-Megh' was published in 1984, on the 30th June! The above Hindi translation belongs to the same book! The full-book manuscript was lost, but has now been located! I, then thought of publishing it, in the above format i.e. Sanskrit-English-Hindi, hence I started with the English translation, but only first 20 shlokas were translated in 2006; & the work stands at that level even today! I'll post the remaining 18 out of these 20 on this website, shortly! Thanks!
