Kyun kahun main ke teri aarzoo nahi hai?
Hai sab kuch pas mere, magar tu nahi
hai..

Aa hi gaya hu main to hangama hoga hi,
Ke khamosh rehna to meri Khoo* nahi
hai..
[* nature]

Ye khait zaroor kisi aur ne jalaaye honge,
Warna barq to meri adoo* nahi hai..
[* enemy]

Ashkon ka rang hi laal hai, main karun
kya?
Nahi nahi Ae dosto! ye lahoo nahi hai..

Tu zulf jhatke to bante hain sitaare,
Tere barabar koi aainaa_roo* nahi hai..
[* bright-faced]

Yun mahakein uske libaas par bane phool,
Phoolon ki bhi aisi khusboo nahi hai..

Siraa tham ke dekho maa ke daaman ka,
Is se mahfooz koi pahloo nahi hai..

Zubaan-e-dil se de sadaa or dekh 'Zaif',
Khuda'wand kab tire roo-b-roo nahi hai?
