Al-Anfal (Spoils of War)

Chapter 8: Verse 46 (Partial)

Causes of Failure

Do not dispute with one another, lest you lose heart and your moral strength.

People fall into dispute when they have different authorities which they look to for leadership and guidance, or when desire is the ultimate factor that shapes people's views and ideas. When people obey only God and His Messenger, the main cause of dispute between them disappears, no matter how much their views differ over the question under discussion.

Having different views is never a cause of dispute and conflict. What causes conflict is desire, making everyone insist that his view is the one to follow, even when it appears to be wrong. Desire causes 'self' to be placed in opposition to 'right' and attaching more importance to self in the first place.

It is an attribute of those with profound knowledge of God, and a distinguishing feature of God's righteous devotees. God Most High said, They fall down upon their faces weeping, and it increases them in humility (Quran 17: 109).

Many hadiths and accounts from the Righteous Forebears have been related concerning this. Among them is from the Prophet, peace be upon him, himself: "Read the Quran and weep. If you do not weep, cause yourself to weep." [Ibn Majah]

Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, prayed the Morning Prayer in congregation and read Surat Yusuf. He wept until his tears flowed over his collarbone.

Imam Abu Hamid al-Ghazali said, "Weeping is recommended while reciting [the Quran] or witnessing [its recitation]." He said, "The way to achieve this is by bringing sadness to mind by pondering the threats and warnings, the covenants and agreements that it contains, and then contemplating one's shortcomings with their regard.
If this does not bring to mind sadness and weeping, as it does with elite worshippers, then one should weep from the lack of it, since it is among the greatest of calamities." [Ihy Ulum al-Din]

"As-Salamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu (may you be safe from evil, and the Mercy of Allah and His Blessings be upon you).''

Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said,
"A rider should greet a pedestrian;
a pedestrian should greet one who is sitting;
and a small group should greet a large group (of people).
'' The narration in Al-Bukhari adds: The Messenger of Allah (SA) said,
"The young should greet the elderly.''

Replacing Bad Habits

Completely eliminating a habit is more challenging than replacing it with a more productive habit. It’s easier to replace or balance your addiction to any bad habbit with a physical workout or reading, than to suddenly remove it from your life.

Prophet Muhammad(SAW), the greatest ‘psychologist’ of humanity, illustrated this principle in these words:

“Fear Allah wherever you may be; follow up an evil deed with a good one which will wipe (the former) out, and behave good-naturedly towards people.”

The Prophet Muhammad said:
Whoever is guilty of doing some wrong against a fellow human being,
whether in regard to his honour or anything else,
he should obtain his forgiveness before the Day of judgment,
when there will be no money to pay for it.
If he has any good deeds to his credit,
they will be taken away from him to the extent of his wrongdoing.
And if he has no good deeds, the sins of the wronged-one
will be taken and put on him.

Abu Hurairah narrates from Rasool-Allah(SAW) ,
"Allah excepts the duaa of a person till the duaa is not related to sin or breaking of some relation and until he does not haste in that duaa. The people (May Allah be happy with them) asked, "Oh Rasool-Allah(SAW)! What is meant by haste?" He replied, "That the person say "I did duaa again and again but my duaa wasn't accepted and afterwards he becomes hopeless and leaves the duaa. This is called haste."

Hadith - Ahmad and Al-Tirmidhi 3118, Narrated Umar ibn al-Khattab , Tirmidhi transmitted it.

The Prophet(SAW) said, "Whenever a man is alone with a woman the Devil makes a third."
..........

Hadith - Sahih Bukhari, Book 25, Number 5403, Narrated Abdullah ibn Amr ibn al-'As

Some persons from Banu Hisham entered the house of Asma' daughter of Umays when AbuBakr(RA) also entered (and she was at that time his wife). He (AbuBakr(RA)) saw it and disapproved of it and he made a mention of that to Allah's Messenger (SAW)and said: I did not see but good only (in my wife).

Thereupon Allah's Messenger(SAW) said: Verily Allah has made her immune from all this. Then Allah's Messenger(SAW) stood on the pulpit and said: After this day no man should enter the house of another person in his absence, but only when he is accompanied by one person or two persons

Hadith - At-Tirmidhi

"On the Day of Resurrection a neck will stretch forth from Hell; it will have two eyes to see, two ears to hear, and a tongue to speak. It will say, "I have been appointed to take care of three types of people: every arrogant tyrant, every person who called on some deity other than Allaah (swt) and those who made pictures"
