Ehteraam-o-Izzat tumhari, hamare dil men
Nafrat-o-zillat hamari, basi tumhare dil men
(Ehteram-respect, izzat- personal dignity, nafrat-hate, zillat-humiliation)

Muhabbat-o-chahat hamare dil men
Hikarat-o-ghaflat tumhare dil men
(hikarat- hatred, ghaflat-confusion, negligence)

Aik haqiqat thi chahat teri, basi hamare dil men
Aik afsana tha guzra hamara, tumhare dil men
(haqiqat-reality, afsana-story)

Kiya fasana tha maazi ka basa woh dil men
khasara tha aik sad ka kissi ki jabeen men
(fasana-story, sad –a decade, khasara-loss, jabeen-forehead, mind)

Khubsurti Kiya bala thi hamare dil men
Jafakari bhi kiya ada thi tumhare dil men
(jafakari-disloyalti, ada-act, enactment, nakhre)

Afsanae nahi badalte ‘abul’ haqiqaton men
Badalte Kahaniyon men qison men nahi dil men
