Hard disk could not identified by BIOS

Sir,
I have a computer having the following configuration, PIII 750 Mhz processer, 20 GB HDD, 128 Ram. Win Xp. The problem is that after restore to it previous date the computer goes black and the hard disk was not identified by the computer BIOS Please help ?

How come XP restoration is associated with Hardisk ?
Anyways, how you knw that hardisk is not identified by computer bios ?

Ok, first goto computer Bios and check that its there or not and if its not then try to change jumper settings or may be you can try changing the pins.

If neither give you any assurity then try using hardisk in any other computer to make sure that hardisk is fine.

Thanks u Ricky
I have found the couse of the hard disk failure in my coumputer.
One of my slot of the mother board was not functioning I have changed it to another slot and its works fine.
Again thanks u for ur suggestions.
