ham hii meN thii na koii baat yaad na tumko aa sake
tumne hameN bhulaa diyaa ham na tumheN bhulaa sake

tum hii na sun sake agar, qissa-e-Gam sunegaa kaun
kiskii zubaaN khulegii phir, ham na agar sunaa sake

hosh meN aa chuke the ham, josh meN aa chuke the tum
bazm kaa rang dekh kar sar na magar uThaa sake

raunaq-e-bazm ban gaye, lab pe hikaayateN rahiiN
dil meN shikaayateN rahiiN, lab na magar hilaa sake

ijz se aur baDh gaii barhamii-e-mizaaj-e-dost
ab voh kare ilaaj-e-dost jiskii samajh meN aa sake

shouq-e-visaal hai yahaaN, lab pe savaal hai yahaaN
kiskii majaal hai yahaaN ham se nazar milaa sake

ahle zubaaN to haiN bohat, koii nahiiN hai ahl-e-dil
kaun terii taraH Hafeez dard ke geet gaa sake
