Dil mein kasak jo badi shiddat se hai
Aye sanam! ye  to,  ek  muddat  se hai

Jang-o-ranjish-o-khalish  se  kya  haasil
Iss jaha.n ka wajood to, bas mohabbat se hai

Iss nazar-fareb duniya se ab apna kya waasta
Apni  yaari  to  bas,  apni  khalwat  se  hai

Maut-o-qaza-o-qayamat ka ham pe kya asar
Hamein  khauf  hai  to bas, zillat se hai

Maqsad hamari shayari ka, payam dun jaha.n ko
apna   kya  waasta,   daulat-o-shohrat  se hai

Zar-o-zameen-o-jaaydaad   ka   ye   kya   karey
'Iftakhar' khush hai ke, jaha.n mein izzat se hai

shiddat se: zor se
ranjish: dushmani
khalish: khatak/synonym of ranjish
nazar fareb: glamorous
khalwat: tanhaai
Qaza: tabahi/synonym of Maut & Qayamat
payaam: message/sandesh
zar: sona/synonym of jaaydad
