Jheemtey-sey witap; jheemtee-see hawaa,
Adhkhulee koploun mein samaa-see gayee!
Eik meethaa jhakoraa, sulagtaa huaa,
Mahmahaa kar bahaa: neend-see aa gayee!

   Jhoomtey-sey rahey madhu-uneendey nayan:
   Jaagtey-jaagtey raat kat hee gayee!


Baahuoun mein, wigat sparsh gaatey rahey!
Swapn aatey rahey; lout jaatey rahey!
Deep kee lou taley chhaanh atkee rahee;
Tum na aaye, madhur jwaar aatey rahey!!

   Deykhtey-deykhtey deep alsaa gaye;
   Jaagtey-jaagtey raat kat hee gayee!


Saptwarnee kiran ney chhuye jab palak:
Snaayuoun# mein ghulee praan-priya kee jhalak:
Eik pal, mein rahaa eiktak deykhtaa;
Aankh kee kor mein neer aayaa chhalak!

   Aur, madhumaas-see, anrut* manuhaar kee
   Eik nishi, praat key saath, ghat hee gayee!
