Aaj ashkon ka taar toot gaya,
rishta-e-intezaar toot gaya.

yoon woh thukra ke chal diye goya,
ik khillona tha pyaar toot gaya.

roye rah-rah kar hichkiyan lekar,
saaz-e-gam baar baar toot gaya.

aapki berukhi ka shikwa kya,
dil tha naapa_idaar toot gaya.

dekh li dil ne besabaati-e-gul,
phir tilism-e-bahaar toot gaya.

"Saif" kya chaar din ki ranjish se,
itani muddat ka pyaar toot gaya.

'kya karoon chaar din ki ranjish se', ya 'kya huaa chaar din ki ranjish se,' deykhiyegaa!
