Sirf khushi thi har taraf,
Hum jab chhote bachhe the..

Jab bhi badhta dard-e-dil,
Chupke-chhupke rote the..

Wahi roothna, wahi manaana,
Wahi roz ke jhagde the..

Apne the aise bhi din,
Jab na tan pe kapde the..

Aaj paraye ho baithe hain,
Kal tak wo jo apne the..

Wo tahzeeb abhi tak hai,
Bachpan me jo seekhe the..

Wo daanth maa ki yaad hai,
Jab kanche khela karte the..

Hum zindgi se tang aakar,
Aakhir patri par lete the..

Ishq, chahat, wafa-o-dil,
Unke liye khilaune the!

Zindgi! Tere qad ke aage,
Hum bhi kitne baune the..

Hum padhte the or maa ko,
Kapde silne padte the..

Tujhko shayad yaad na ho,
Hum tere kuch lagte the..
