किसी और का दिल मैं क्या जला पाऊंगा,
अपना दिल तो ठीक से जलता ही नहीं.

मुझसे मुंह मोड़कर शायद तूने अच्छा ही किया,
मैं वो खोटा सिक्का हूँ जो बाज़ार में चलता ही नहीं.

जब भी जलाता हूँ तो धुआं सा उठता रहता है,
दिल तो भीगा हुआ कागज़ है जो सुलगता ही नहीं.

कौन छीनेगा मेरी सोच की दौलत "बेताब",
मैं वो सोच हूँ जिससे कुछ हासिल होता ही नहीं.

इस क़दर क़ाबिज़ है मेरे घर पर अकेलापन,
इन्सान तो क्या कोई परिंदा तक यहाँ फटकता ही नहीं.

जाने क्या हो गया है इन खुशबूपसंद लोगों को,
कि अब फूल तोड़ने चमन में कोई आता ही नहीं.

इतना अँधेरा पसंद हो गए हैं इस शहर के लोग,
शाम को अपने घर में कोई चिराग जलाता ही नहीं.
