zindagaani tare naam ki abb  dur ho  nahi  sakta,
tujhse  karke  be-waffai  kisi ka ho  nahi sakta,

tari nazaro  se eysa  nasha hua ki  hosh na raha,
chah kar or koi  jaam  labo se lagaa  nahi sakta,
 
lab-e-sheereen se karke bose  mare  mustaaq jage,
ab surkhi-e-rukhsaar ka  rang  kam ho nahi sakta,

taa-abab ye saanse  tare naam kar dee hai  humne,
khuda gawah hai tujhe kuch ho eysa ho nahi sakta,

naseem-e-saba-e-firaaq  mare hisse kabhi na aaye,
bin tare ye armaa,n be-daar ho, ye ho nahi sakta,

chashm-e-tar aankhe na kisi mahfil main ho kabhi,
ahel-e-jahaa,n ki nazaro,n se gire ho nahi sakta,

banke tumara humdard tare sare gamo ko apnya hai,
ab padh lo kisi or sang qalmaa ye ho  nahi sakta,
