                       dekh kar chehra mera beqaraar hone laga!
                       aaine ka ye haal baar-baar hone laga!!


                       lage dar jise khanjar-o-talwaar se.
                       meri nigaah se qatl ko tayyaar hone laga!


                       chund risaale hikmat ke jo dekha paas mere.
                       phir kya tha, roz woh bimaar hone laga!

 
                      jise chhuha tha, phool hi to tha lakin.
                       meri ek ghaflat se khaar hone laga!


                       diya tohfa waqt ne jo mohabbat ka mujhe.
                       guzre her lamhe se pyaar hone laga!


                       aane lagi sheba bazm mein ghazal ki tarah!
                       aur maqte mein bus uska akhteyaar hone laga!!
