lailaa   majnu,  shireen  farhad, woh  afsaane   aur hi the
ishq ko khudaa  samajhte jo, woh  mastaane  aur hi the

ab to do pal ke saath ko  log  mohabbat samajhte hain
jaan bhi den mohabbat mein, woh deewaane aur hi the

aajkal ke parwaane, bas  dekh  aag ghabraa jaate hain
jal  gaye  jo  mohabbat  mein, aise parwaane aur hi the

doob ke  dekhaa botal mein, nashe kaa kuch asar nahi
jo  chhalak  jaate  the  kabhi, woh paimaane  aur hi the

sooni  si  mehfil  hai, ghazal  kaa   naam-o-nishaan nahi
hothon  se  jo  utren nahi woh  geet  puraane aur hi the

aankhon  ke kaajal  ki aur  zulfon ke  baadal  ki baatein
aisi  haseen  taarif  kare koi, woh   zamaane  aur  hi the

likhtaa  hai jo ab  'Hriday', bhool log   jaate  hain  jald hi
taaliyaan   jin   par   bajti   thi, woh  taraane   aur  hi the
