mare ba-dast uske naam ki koi naa lakeer mili,
zakhm kaise miley hath koi naa shamsheer mili,

be-sabab chore gayi bad-diyaanaat tare bagair,
band e gham sath tha par koi naa taqdeer mili,

har shahar main dhotkara hai zamaane vaalo ne,
zahar key ghuutt bhar liye koi naa kheer mili,

aabru-reyzi kar ke mahfil se nikaala tha usne,
majnu banaa diya humey usme koi naa heer mili,

mafhoom e gham e ishq mare toote dil sey puch,
fanse hai gamo,n main par koi naa zaneer mili,



mafhoom e gham e ishq---ishq ke gamo,n ka mol
aabru-reyzi----insult---beizzati
ba-dast------in hand----hatho,n main
bad-diyaanaat----faithless----be vaffa
band e gham----concealed sorrows---chupaya dard ya dukh
